Necktie of the Day: 1930’s 1940’s Transitional Vintage Tie
Nothing happens overnight. This is the case with fashion as well. It would be nice to be able to neatly categorize the historical development of men’s neckwear as well, but it, too, transitioned slowly. This bright necktie is a perfect example of a transitional tie.
It has no finishing facing on the underside, which is standard for 1930’s era ties and it boasts a bold colorful foulard pattern typical of 1940’s era ties. You can read more about how to tell a 30’s tie from the 40’s tie in my earlier post.
You can compare the 1930’s ties with the 1940’s ties and see for yourself that as far as designs go, neckties brightened up and got louder post World War II. This tie was a portent of exciting things to come.
