Necktie of the Day: Vintage 1950’s Cuckoo Clock Pleated Tie
While the colors of neckwear in the 1950’s toned down drastically in comparison to the bright ties typical in the 40’s, manufacturers felt it fit to experiment in other ways. This red necktie features but two of the clever ways in which neckties were embellished.
The blue coo coo clock and “V” shape are machine stitched onto the fabric. Also new to the scene were the pleats you see. While the bird theme would have sufficed for this particular tie, the designers further embellished this tie with several diagonal rows of pleats for added dimension.
