40's 50's Vintage Hot Pink TieTies2Pillows is a hybrid sales site in that my partner and I sell 80% vintage ties and 20% brand new neckties.  And we have close to 3000 men’s ties for your consideration, so it was in our interest and to our customers’ delight that we separate all of our vintage neckwear by decade.

Each decade offers neckties distinct from one another: 1920’s & 1930’s ties are short and understated. 1940’s ties are wide and short and much more  colorful.  1950’s & 1960’s ties are the skinniest and the widest of the bunch! Well, most all of the 50’s and early 60’s neckwear was skinny, while the the widest ever (over 5 inches) were worn during the remainder of the 60’s.  1970’s ties were wide and normal width, often made of thick polyester fabric and sporting large designs.  1980’s ties slimmed down again, ranging from 1 1/2 to 3 1/4 inches wide.  1990’s ties and today’s modern neckwear look and feel pretty much the same, so we’ve combined the twenty years together into one category.

I hope that explanation helps. Oh, by the way, check out this 40’s 50’s Hot Pink Hand Screened Necktie – this one’s a keeper!
