Happy Birthday Dad!
Actually this is my ex father-in-law I’m talking about.
He is like a dad to me. I have known him since high school, when I met and fell in love with his second son. Fast forward 12 years of living in sin followed by 4 years of marriage not working out, his son and I parted ways. It wasn’t easy. It never is. There were 5 years of bumpy roads between me, my ex and his family.
In the end, we let our bygones be bygones, and re-emerged as good and then great friends. In fact, I am not stretching the truth by saying that we are family. That is a testament to who we are as people – especially considering the fact that there are no children and/or grandchildren between us as the typical binding glue. Think about that.
My like-a-dad and I have a great relationship. Whether we talk every day or once every several months, we are always happy to hear from one another. We always pick up from where we left off. We genuinely like each other. How great is that?!
I cannot ask for more than the love I share with you, Dad.

Anyone will tell you that I love novelty ties and that I’m a sucker to gimmicks. So when I checked out the website UncommonGoods.com the other day, I was intrigued with these Napkin Ties on sale for $19.99 down from $40 dollars.
The shtick is ‘No Napkin? No Problem’. A design which doubles up as a napkin, these blue & white and red & white neckties are made to look like tablecloth prints, ideal for picnic type settings. When you are done wiping your fingers with your tie, simply pop the preshrunk cotton neckwear into the washer.
I don’t know about you, but these napkin ties just don’t work for me. They are essentially nothing more than bibs, and not very good ones since by design they don’t cover a very large area. What do you think?

I always only had a handful of Oscar de la Renta ties on my Ties2Pillows website, so I kept them in the Other Designer Neckties page, but now that I’ve acquired a few, I decided to dedicate an entire page to them.
They will include 1970’s vintage, 1980’s skinny logo ties such as this burgundy red striped tie to your left, and 1990’s modern counterparts. The logo neckwear sports the entire designer’s name machine stitched near the tip. Most are patterned, but a few sport novelty themes.
No matter which era you decide on, these are classic pieces which will never go out of style. Enjoy!

The long and short of it: Pretty darn skinny!
I’ve been in the business of selling men’s vintage skinny ties for over 4 years now, and the absolute skinniest ties I’ve ever encountered were one inch wide ties! In fact, early 1960’s skinny vintage ties can be so skinny that they look like a shoe laces! This is because these ties run one inch wide from tip to tip and don’t flare out at all.
Skinny tie enthusiasts prefer any tie 3 inches or slimmer, and some will only wear 1″ ties. They are married to that width and won’t entertain any other men’s tie no matter what. I recommend that if you are a narrow necktie newbie, choose a width which looks good on you. Depending on your height and build, you might look better sporting slightly wider neckwear.

OK, now that I got that out of the way, you really don’t want to appear as if you are gaming the system. You don’t want to look like you are taking advantage of your membership to a particular page on a social network such as Facebook.
An example: I “liked” the Entrepreneuress Academy and the Serenity for the Self-Employed Career and Creativity Coaching pages on Facebook some time ago. I receive their posts regularly as do others. All I have done up until today is “like” their posts…until today. It just so happened that today Serenity posted this artist themed wall photo. After reading it I commented “to the placard, let me add, “but I will work WITH you’. I do that with my customers at www.Ties2Pillows.com“, to which I added, “Forgive me for the plug, but I believe it is worth my contribution to this post lol.” 
It also just so happened that the Entrpresneuress page posted this Success wall photo today, to which I commented, “Ain’t that the truth – anyone who begs to differ is LYING! That has been the case with me and my website Ties2Pillows. Forgive me for the plug – I don’t do it often but don’t feel bad whe I do it, either lol.”
I also shared these two messages on my personal wall and will again on my Ties2Pillows Facebook page as well. They are each a great message which can help others understand that they are not alone. I hope to generate a discussion on my news feed as well as on my blog here. No big deal if I don’t. The answer might surprise you – maybe as wide as 3 1/4 inches!
The cutoff for narrow neckties has to be something, and the industry standard is three inch ties max. That’s where I stop on my website. Well, I cheat, but just a little. If a tie is 3 1/16 inches wide, I still include it because who’s really measuring, and the design might be of interest to customers who prefer slim neckwear.
So how do I get from 3 inches to 3 1/4, you ask? If a customer shops at Big ‘n Tall clothing stores or is a very muscular man with a wide neck and broad shoulders, he might actually look better wearing a slightly wider tie and in keeping with the rest of their physical proportions. The neckwear they choose will still look skinny even if it’s not technically, and what really matters is looking good! My recommendation, experiment with various widths to see which works best for you.
